| In 2008 the Preparatory Year commenced at Warrigal Road State
School for children who turn five between 1 July and 30 June in 2008. The Prep program is a specifically designed educational program for schools offered on a full-time, non-compulsory basis. The Prep school curriculum will be different from the present preschool curriculum and is based on active learning, investigations and play. International research shows the benefits of full-time quality programs before children start Year 1. This research also shows that children who are older generally do better than their younger peers when they start formal schooling.
